For residents located on the south side of Highway 5, garbage is picked up weekly on Thursdays. For residents located on the north side of Highway 5, garbage is picked up weekly on Fridays. One REACT garbage tag is needed for every 77 litre garbage bag or can. A sheet of 5 tags is $7.50 and a sheet of 100 tags is $140.00. Tags can be purchased from the REACT Waste Management Office (307 12th Street) or at the following businesses: -

Canadian Tire Back Yard Pick Up Compost Collection Program City of Humboldt - Community & Leisure Services Department Phone: (306) 682-2597 Runs from May to October (weather permitting). Pick up is Monday to Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The program completes a full cycle of the community every 4 to 6 weeks.
The program WILL pick up the following:
- Tree branches & twigs (early spring and late fall)
- Grass Clippings
- Leaves & Garden Refuse
Preference is to pick up loose items, but will pick up items in clear bags. Please ensure trees, branches and twigs are kept seperate and manageable (4-5' lenghts) and are metal-free. Composting Bin Rebate City Hall Phone: (306) 682-2525 The City of Humboldt encourages residents to compost yard and kitchen waste on their own property. The City provides a rebate to residents that purchase a composting bin for these purposes. Coupons for the Composting Rebate Program are available at City Hall and participating businesses in Humboldt. A completed coupon and a copy of the receipt of purchase is required to obtain a refund.
REACT Sanitary Landfill Site 7 km South of Humboldt on Highway 20 REACT Office Phone: (306) 682-1955 The REACT Sanitary Landfill Site accepts any organic waste, tree branches, clean wood, motor oil, oil containers & filters at no charge. Do not bring any hazardous materials. The loads must be tarped or secured. Household refused each bag or can use half a tag or pay at the gate. Winter Hours of Operation (Until March 31, 2021): Monday to Friday: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday & Statutory Holidays: Closed
