Snow Removal Guidelines and Actions
Posted December 9, 2013
Winter is here and the City of Humboldt's Public Works Department is responsible for snow removal on the City's roadways. When a snow storm is taking place, City staff will monitor the weather closely to ensure it is safe and effective to for staff to begin plowing and removing snow. Highways 5 and 20 are cleared first, along with emergency routes and access points to major utilities. Busy collector streets, school routes, the downtown business district and Centennial Park (at the Humboldt Uniplex) are cleared second. Any remaining residential streets are then cleared. The City aims to have the priority routes cleared within one-to-two days of a major snowfall. Click here to view the City's Snow Removal guidelines and here to view a map of the snow clearing routes.
