Boat License Information A Pleasure Craft Operator Card is required to operate power-driven boats and watercraft in Canada - every person who operates a motorized boat must obtain this card. You can obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card by passing a Transport Canada Accredited boating safety test. Boaters can obtain their official Pleasure Craft Operator Card, commonly known as a boat license or boat card, by successfully passing the BOATsmart! exam. Programs & Courses Aquacise This is an aquatic fitness program for people of all ages, male and female. Whether your goal is to lose weight, change your shape or improve your health, this program can help. Aquatic workouts are a great way to improve your physical health and strength without causing stress on the joints.
Fun Swim Club Children between the ages of 5 and 13 years old are invited to participate in the Fun Swim Club. Contact the Humboldt Aquatic Centre to find out when the next Fun Swim Club program begins.
Junior Lifeguard Program Learn how to be a great leader and team member in a fun, relaxed environment. As a member of the HAC Junior Lifeguard Program, you will get hands on experience of all aspects of the pool including lifeguarding, teaching swimming lessons, observe/participate in fitness classes, public relations and pool maintenance. You will be partnered with one of the friendly HAC lifeguards and assist them in their duties. Please note that Junior Lifeguards will never be asked to participate in any rescues or teach classes on their own.
Leadership Courses The Humboldt Aquatic Centre offers the following courses through the Red Cross - Assistant Water Safety Instructor (AWSI) and Water Safety Instructor (WSI). The following courses are available through the Lifesaving Society - Bronze Medallion (BM), Bronze Cross (BC), Aquatic Emergency Care (A.E.C.) and National Lifeguard Service (NLS).
Red Cross Swimming Lessons The Red Cross Swim Program teaches swimmers how to stay safe in, on and around the water, how to minimize risk of injury and safely enjoy aquatic activities. These lessons and themes are integrated throughout the program through age appropriate topics, games and activities that facilitate comprehension and learning. Red Cross Swim is built around an individualized approach to teaching, encouraging each swimmer to improve and strive for his or her personal best.
